Convicted Feline: Yo Baby

Convicted Feline: Yo Baby

Since they brought home the baby, that delicious milk smell has been right under my nose, 24/7. What can I say? I love milk. I know that’s no excuse, but believe me, I’ve tried to be good. I do politely meow to get a little milk in my saucer too, but am usually and utterly ignored. I sit at their feet, staring and purring to get their attention while they feed that voracious human-cub, but haven’t been any luckier.

Recently, they began placing the baby in a high chair and feeding her all sorts of mashed things. If you asked me, I’d say it’s pretty gross. A good half of it gets spitted out, and peas, mashed potatoes, and cream of carrots usually fly in all directions. I can’t believe they force feed that thing. Maybe it needs to be ready for Thanksgiving and they are running out of time. I’m not sure.

I had never tasted yoghurt before yesterday, when baby threw yet another spoon on the floor and it landed just next to me. I couldn’t resist: I had to lick it. Wowie wow wow!!! I just could not believe it! It was like milk, but better: creamier, sweeter, yummier. I had found heaven in a spoon. And one cannot ignore heaven after getting a taste of it… I glanced at Mom: she was sitting in the family room, totally absorbed by her cell phone. I knew she would be mesmerized for another 10-15 minutes, and since she had turned her back and was not able to see me, I swiftly jumped on the kitchen table. Baby, who had never seen me that close, seemed fascinated and smiled broadly. I sniffed the air around her. That’s when she offered me a spoonful of yoghurt. Mind if I do… It took me less than two minutes to finish the yoghurt on her tiny plate, and I was in the process of licking the baby’s mouth clean when I heard a blood-curling shriek coming from the family-room. I had no idea that mopping the baby’s face with my tongue was not acceptable. I was just trying to be nice, you know… motherly, or something. Well, live and learn…
